Bain is a great place for women, especially young mothers.

Why Bain?

I chose Bain for its people, and to become part of this diverse, engaged, passionate, professional, challenging, ambitious yet not too serious team.

Today I stay at Bain not only because of this unique team and culture, but also because Bain is a great supporter of individual achievement, allowing each one to build its own recipe for self-accomplishment. In my case, navigating across all possibilities Bain can offer: went for a 6-months externship at the Women's Forum for the Economy & Society, transferred from Paris to Brussels, joined the Consumer Products & Retail practice to discover new facets of consulting, moved to part-time for a better work-life balance.

My passion

My passion at Bain is what I do every day, learning and exploring new businesses and situations, specifically on brand growth topics. It's like building a giant puzzle, where each experience, each person adds another piece, contributing to refine the overall picture.  And keeping time and energy for my personal passions, taking care of my boys, and putting on my cooking chef hat for other types of explorations.

My favorite case

It's no surprise that my favorite case was a Consumer Goods project, involving brand growth issues. Our client, a beverage company, was facing declining sales for the last decade, and had more or less get used to it. They had a portfolio of very strong and loved brands, but with huge untapped potential. The arrival of a new top management team was the perfect opportunity to turn things around, and I was lucky enough to be part of the Bain team in charge of developing a new brand portfolio, pricing and promotion strategy.
We spent 3 months there, and together with the client we redefined a path towards sales growth, prioritizing their brands, revising in-store execution, down to very concrete and detailed recommendations on how to best communicate towards retailers, how to execute in advertising, etc.

They achieved results above expectations, and are now outperforming their category, one of the best success stories in consumer goods in the country, and we have built a long term and solid relationship with them.

My personal results story

I spent almost a year working within the European Consumer Products & Retail practice, to consolidate and develop Bain knowledge in those industries. During this experience, I had the opportunity to contribute to The Bain Brand Accelerator, a complete approach to put brands back on track in low growth environments. The product was shared during a 2-day conference involving most senior experts from Bain. It is now one of the hot topics in our Consumer Goods practice.

My perspective on diversity at Bain

Based on my personal experience, Bain is a great place for women, especially young mothers, because it combines a challenging professional commitment with a rich personal life. The Brussels office said yes to all my requests on flexible options ; and the whole team, from partners to younger ACs do everything they can to make my part-time role work every day.

A final thought

When I decided to join Bain 6 years ago, I had no idea that  I would stay this long! But so far, it's been the best combination I could ever dream of, in terms of intellectual stimulation, team experience, work-life balance and people relationships. So I guess I'll stay for another round.
