  • Office overview

Located midway between the twin cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, Bain Dallas has been among the most successful offices in the Bain system. Since our founding in 1990, we have been differentially focused on creating dramatic turnaround stories, including our work with Continental Airlines and Dell Computers. With this commitment to turnarounds, Bain Dallas recently became the home of the launching pad for the new Corporate Renewal Group, focused exclusively on turnarounds up to and including interim management services.

Our client base is as highly diverse as the Texas and central southwest economy, encompassing airlines and aerospace, telecommunications, electronics and high technology, and oil and gas. As the gateway to Latin America, Bain Dallas frequently serves clients south of the border in partnership with our Latin American offices.

We are home to several leading practices, including the airline practice as well as the performance improvement practice, which is led globally by Dallas partner and office founder Mark Gottfredson. (Mark recently published the book, The Breakthrough Imperative.)

"Friday lunch," a cherished Bain Dallas tradition, brings together the whole office once a week for a purely social gathering. Lunch is often followed by an impromptu foosball tournament--good practice for the annual Golden Hand competition.

Outside the office, our Saturday soccer league and annual beach volleyball tournament mix with more serious community service commitments, including tutoring at local schools and extensive participation in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.

  • Our social impact

Bain Texas is committed to having an impact in our community.  Each year our teams invest almost 2000 hours, the equivalent of a full time employee, into office-sponsored volunteering.  These volunteer activities include:

    • Adopting a local elementary school: Providing a classroom tutoring and fundrasing arts program
    • College application assistance for underprivileged high school seniors
    • Big Brothers, Big Sisters
    • Kiva lending
    • Ramp building for low income residents with accessibility needs
    • Local park and trail groundwork and beautification
    • Homeless, senior care and women's shelters

In addition to volunteering, many of our associate consultants take a six month break from case work as part of a Not-for-profit externship.  In 2009 alone, eight associate consultants in our office temporarily joined NFP's of their choice, bringing their consulting toolkit to those organizations' toughest problems.

Finally, the office also formally invests full and partial consulting teams each year to conduct pro-bono work with change oriented community partners.  Recent project topics include the arts, local economic development, and charter schools for rebuilding New Orleans.

The drive to make a difference comes from the passion of our people.  As new team members join each year we look for opportunities to evolve our volunteering focus to reflect the interests of our people.
