Why Bain?
I chose Bain because of its unique value proposition: Great career opportunities, amazing co-workers, and a truly inspiring environment. Some people say you can't have it all. I think at Bain you can. From my very first contact with Bain, I was really impressed by people's attitude and open-mindedness. I instantly felt I wanted to be a part of this!

My passion
I have a passion for collecting international experiences. At Bain everyone is valued for what they can bring to the table. With my international background, I knew I wanted a job that would allow me to travel and put my multicultural experiences to good use. One of my new found passions outside the office is yoga. I enjoy dragging colleagues along to power vinyasa classes at a nearby studio or unwinding in the office during our yoga for women events.

My favorite case
My favorite case is the one I am working on at the moment: A post-merger supply chain integration project for a high-profile tech company. Besides the great team and interesting international travel opportunities (since September I have been to Singapore, Malaysia, and Munich multiple times), I really enjoy the fact that each Bainie is an integral part of the client team - we really get to roll our sleeves up and make things happen.

My personal results story
Recently I had the opportunity to work closely with a client team on a complex supply chain operations topic. The goal was to optimize a process to fulfill sample orders from customers. To complicate things, different key stakeholding groups had conflicting interests and it was difficult to balance the big picture view of the problem with the exceptional level of detail required to consider every possibility. It was truly rewarding to realize I had come to be seen as an expert on the topic and an indispensable part of the team. I learned that a structured approach and calm persistence can go a long way.

My perspective on diversity at Bain
I like to think of Bain as a big melting pot of cultures and lifestyles. As an international employee in the United States I feel valued, respected, and supported. As a woman, it is truly exciting to be exposed to such fantastic role models - female managers and partners that make balancing families and high-powered careers look effortless.

A final thought
If you do join Bain, I would strongly encourage you to keep an open mind on possible projects and experiences. For example, I have a strong interest in the retail practice. I never thought I would enjoy my experience in technology but I did! Do your very best to take advantage of all the unparalleled opportunities Bain offers. I am thinking about a six-month transfer to Sydney (I have never been to Australia) or a non-profit externship.
