Why Bain?
I think that any dream job has to have three things: an opportunity to add value to the world, an incredible learning experience, and your personal enjoyment. Bain offered all of them to me. I'm doing work that matters with incredible people and having fun along the way. At the same time, everyday, I'm learning about organizations and industries while developing my business skills. Finally, Bain's focus on results makes you feel proud at the end of each case, knowing that your team's effort made a significant impact to the client.

My passion
I'm passionate about making a difference in Mexico. Last year we created Impacta, a Bain Cares initiative for Associate Consultants and Consultants to volunteer in pro bono projects with not-for-profit organizations in Mexico. It is amazing how much impact a team can have in an organization while learning from leaders in the social sector.

My favorite case
Our team helped organize and run the integration of a large acquisition for our client.
I was in charge of coordinating the integration taskforces and organizing the process of tracking synergies. The case forced me to understand the different areas of the business and identify where the value was coming from. The best thing was that I learned a lot by participating in meetings with the management team, supporting them to take strategic decisions, and having a lot of fun with the Bain team.

My personal results story
Launching Impacta was a really entrepreneurial experience. We started by defining the idea to provide consulting services to not-for-profits, learning from similar experiences in other offices, creating the business plan, selling the business plan to the office leadership team, defining Impacta's management team, identifying our first client and case, and staffing the first team.
After six months of hard work we finish the year with approval for the initiative, a successful case, and a special recognition from our Office Head in the Holiday party.
In 2011 we are looking forward to consolidate the initiative and move towards our goal of improving Mexico's social sector.

A final thought
Your last days of college are a time to ask yourself: "What you really want to do with your life?", "In which industry do you want to be in?", and "What do you want to learn from it?"
Be sure to have a bullet proof one-page resume ready. Understand your experiences, skills, and what you want to get out of a specific position.
Finally, while applying to Bain enjoy the case interviews because if you find them interesting you'll love the work. Be yourself, meet the Bainies, have fun during the process, and don't hesitate to ask questions, we are here to help!
