Why Bain?
When I joined Bain as a junior in college, I actually had no idea what I wanted to do with my career long term. Now, after more than five years with Bain, I know: it is to remain a Bainie. I have come to realize that it is the opportunity to constantly learn new skills, combined with the amazing people that I am surrounded by, that makes Bain so special. Call it an accidental career but these things explain why I chose Bain back then and why I continue to stay.

My passion
One of my passions is developing and mentoring people. At Bain, I live this passion every day by coaching team members and mentoring others in the office. Outside Bain, I am a member of a local high school mentoring program. My case teams are very supportive by ensuring I can honor these commitments.

My favorite case
Recently, I completed a case for a multibillion dollar consumer goods company. The client wanted us to assess the talent and organizational gaps that might prevent them from reaching their ambitious growth targets. Sure enough, there were a few significant ones. We then worked to develop solutions. The case underscored for me the importance of talent in delivering a strategy, which is actually what Bain is all about. Not only was the case interesting, but I also had the opportunity to lead my first full case team. It was an incredible learning experience to not only manage a team but drive Bain's process.

My perspective on diversity at Bain
The Blacks at Bain (BABs) community has been a crucial part of my Bain experience. I can always depend on the members of BABs to provide professional advice on my career or guidance on my next case. But beyond being a network of supportive colleagues, BABs has also become a group of very dear friends.

A final thought
If you are considering Bain, you should factor in that Bainies are passionate people. We are passionate about getting results for our clients and about helping each other be the best we can be. So, be sure you can tell us about your passions in the interview and what drives you. Also, for your sake more than ours, be able to convey why consulting is the right choice for you and why Bain is the best fit.
