Bain is a great place to work. That is what I heard from people during the recruiting process and that is what I can confirm myself after working for 1.5 years.

Why Bain?
There are two main reasons why I wanted to join Bain and still very much enjoy working at the firm. Firstly, "Bain consulting" is very down-to-earth, honest and focused on measurable results. Second reason, and probably the one most important for me, is the people and culture at Bain. Already at the recruiting event I was impressed by Bain consultants, their energy, intelligence and friendliness. Later on during the interviews I felt a lot of things in common with them, which basically turned the whole recruiting process into a fun and intellectually challenging experience.

My passion
My main passion at Bain has been constantly working with highly professional and intelligent people both within Bain and at the client side. Effectively communicating with various people is an important and not easily acquired skill which requires a lot of effort. Bain provides many opportunities to challenge yourself in this dimension, which I personally find amazing and learn from it every day.
Outside the office I am a travel addict and take every chance to visit a new exciting place. By the way consulting itself often gives possibilities to travel around the globe both for projects and trainings.

My favorite case
One of my favorite cases was a pre-due diligence case for a publishing company. We were asked to prepare a detailed profile for each of the potential targets including shareholders' and managers' profiles. Our team consisted of a Case Team Leader , two Associate Consultants, and two" fresh from the school" Associate Consultants. I had an excellent opportunity to coordinate the work of all junior people and at the same time coach and mentor them. Moreover, I had an excellent exposure to the client being present at all client meetings and actively participating in important discussions. But, the most rewarding part was at the end of the case when the client expressed high satisfaction with the work done and eagerness to work with Bain in the future.

My personal results story
Every case provides an opportunity for a results story. My recent strategy case for a beer company is a good example. It was a very intense and challenging case with high exposure to the top-management of the company. One of my main responsibilities was developing two financial models for Russia and Ukraine which automatically involved interactions with lots of middle and top managers. The most memorable part was working directly with CEO and CFO of client's office in Ukraine, aligning model assumptions and outputs which led to a very successful presentation to the company European headquarters next day.

A final thought
Bain is a great place to work. That is what I heard from people during the recruiting process and that is what I can confirm myself after working for 1.5 years. Moreover, I can add that Bain is also unique place to work because of its amazing people, its inspiring culture, and great clients. It gives you so many opportunities to develop, acquire unique knowledge and most importantly acquire good friends. Thus, it indeed is worth spending quality time for preparing yourself for the recruiting process. Make sure that your CV and cover letter look professional and clean. Spend time with your friends training for the case interviews. Read industry recruitment practices (Bain web site is one of the musts). Finally, relax, be yourself and enjoy the process. In any case this should be a great experience!
