Why Bain?
I never imagined becoming a management consultant; sciences and mathematics were always my beloved topics. Out of curiosity, I decided to apply for an internship at Bain to find out what the consulting world was all about. It was a great experience, working with smart, devoted people who were passionate about their jobs and whose enthusiasm was infectious.
During the internship, I quickly gained insights into the business world and learned how to get results for clients. I also saw it was a culture where I could easily make friends with colleagues. After completing the internship, I understood Bain would be a place where I would enjoy coming to work every day. -
My passion
The thing that fascinates me most about Bain is the possibility to learn something new every day. Every day brings a new challenge, and with it, new responsibilities. What's exciting is that you know tomorrow will be different from today - but you don't know how it will be different. It makes you evolve every day.
In my free time, I enjoy playing viola and going to concerts, movies and theatre. -
My favorite case
My first case was a transformation for a private equity portfolio company. Our work covered all areas of the business: sales, overhead cost, production planning, factory optimization, procurement and R&D. Bain gave me the opportunity to work on many of these work streams.
Working on this case gave me a unique perspective on how an entire company is run, from developing a product to producing it and selling it. In the end, we won an internal Bain competition for the case with the best results in Europe, which was a great reward after all the work we did. -
My personal results story
One of my "best results at Bain" is a recruiting event I set up and organized to kick-start the internship recruiting season for the Brussels office. I was responsible for developing the idea, coordinating the selection of the students, choosing the location and theme, and preparing the presentation. It was a big success, with more students joining than originally planned. Five of them were later recruited for a summer internship.

My perspective on diversity at Bain
What I like about Bain, is that we are trying to move away from the typical "male" consulting environment without being naïve. Attracting and keeping different profiles at Bain, means that we also need to change the way we work. That's why the whole office is working on questions like:
- How can we make our day-to-day work more sustainable?
- Which new options can we install to work part-time or take some time off? -
A final thought
If you are thinking about management consulting, choose the company where you meet people who inspire you and with whom you'll enjoy working every day. In the end, they are the ones making a difference between an interesting job and a fantastic job!
