• Why Bain?

  Bain has just a phenomenal culture - there are no politics and no egos, just results and fun. In consulting you get a chance to see a lot of firms and I've never seen a place with as positive a culture as Bain.

• My passion

  My wife!  We both work intense professional jobs, and I love that Bain is able to give me the flexibility to usually get home in time to prepare dinner for her (and sometimes then do more work after dinner). It's a small thing but it really matters. Bain is great about trying to give you the room to do those things.

• My favorite case

  We did a case recently for health care development. It will be a big R&D facility for small biotechs. It was rewarding to help create an environment where disease could be cured, and also to see a building coming up that you helped develop!

• My personal results story

  It's great to really get down in the trenches, as in some work I did a little while ago for a U.S. insurer. We started with a high level strategy - "what businesses are you in?"; and drove all the way down to rolling up our sleeves on specific actions. I started doing high-level industry analysis and ended sitting next to their top finance people working side by side to implement real, specific changes.

• A final thought

  Work in a place where you love the people. The work can be grea, but it's the people who you are stuck in a boardroom together with for days on end who make your work days feel good. Bain is that place for me.
