  • Why Bain?

What really made Bain stand out from the pack were the people I met during the recruiting process. Their passion for the firm and the work they were doing left a deep and lasting imprint on me, and distinctly differentiated the firm from others I was considering.

  • My passion

I have many passions - renewable energy, traveling the globe, playing rugby, and the outdoors to name a few - and Bain gives me the opportunity to pursue all of these. I have worked on several energy cases thus far, and have helped support development of the energy practice area through some internal work. Bain's global network gives me the opportunity to transfer to another office, which is really exciting. I've found the work-life balance manageable enough to play a season of competitive rugby in my first year as a consultant, which is something I never thought I'd be able to do! And Finally, in San Francisco we're blessed with the Sierra Nevada mountains at our doorstep, -- great in both summer and winter months.

  • My favorite case

I'm currently halfway through a six-month rotation through our Private Equity Group. Completing a detailed diligence in less than three weeks is an extraordinary accomplishment, but it wouldn't be possible without attacking the problem the Bain way: taking an 'answer first' hypothesis-driven approach, maintaining an emphasis on results, and working within a truly high-performing team.

  • My personal results story

I recently helped an under-performing US electric and gas utility develop and implement a three-year strategic plan. Working alongside one of the company's senior vice presidents, I was able to see our professional relationship evolve to a point where I became his trusted advisor. With that rapport, I was able to effectively support and guide the planning process and influence the thinking of the key decision-makers. It was a small personal victory for me when the CEO called out the VP's business unit as one of the shining stars within the company for their work throughout the strategic planning process.
