  • Why Bain?

I had decided that I didn't want to be an engineer, even though I had an engineering degree.  But I DID want to keep using my brain to solve analytical problems.  I also felt that business was at the core of how our world works today, and that the business education that Bain could provide me would be hugely valuable in whatever I did next. ('Next' turned out to be more Bain.)

  • My passion

I am very interested in improving our communities and our world.  I love that at Bain, I can spend time on social impact within the context of my work.  Many of my friends outside of Bain have two spheres - their workplace, and, separately, the nonprofits they are involved with.  At Bain, I can volunteer and simultaneously build relationships with my co-workers.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2-year-old daughter.

  • My favorite case

I led a pro-bono case for a Boston organization called Cradles to Crayons.  Cradles was a small organization focused on helping kids be warm and ready for school -  and they were at a crossroads.  Should they expand across the US or double down in Massachusetts?  Should they stay focused on getting kids coats, or should they also provide backpacks?  Our Bain team did traditional strategy work with them - talked to their 'customers' and stakeholders, did analysis on their warehouse use, developed financial forecasts.  The strategy we developed together with the Cradles' leaders was put into action, and I'm proud that Bain can take a small piece of credit for the wonderful work that Cradles does today.

  • My perspective on diversity at Bain

Being a woman at Bain has been a non-issue for me - Bain is very meritocratic and treats everyone equally, and my peers and mentors are a mix of both men and women whom I respect and who respect me.

  • A final thought

I wanted to stay at Bain as long as I was 1) happy, and 2) continuing to learn - those two things have held true for ten years so far!
