Why Bain?
Bain was the right place for me because I felt the culture of the firm supported exactly what I was looking for. The culture at Bain is team-oriented and supportive, but also dynamic and fast-paced. That mix of great people and big results was really attractive to me. It also helped that everyone that I met at Bain had a range of interests that they participated in outside of work, making it obvious that while Bainie's work hard, they also leave time to enjoy their hobbies and interests as well.

My passion
At Bain my passion is in both the recruiting and development of the people that I work with. Bain has been great in enabling me to work in this area by giving me the responsibility as the on-campus rep for Kellogg in the coming year, where I'll be responsible for recruiting functions at my former school. I've also been able to develop both formal and informal mentorship relationships throughout the office, despite only being at Bain for about a year.
Outside of the office I love playing sports, cooking and traveling. There always seems to be a Bain intramural sport team going on that I can participate in, and despite a busy work schedule, I manage to cook up great meals at home with my wife 3-5 times per week.

My favorite case
I had a few great cases in PEG where the challenge seemed daunting. We had a relatively obscure industry that we needed to develop rather complex insights for, and deliver to our private equity client in three weeks.
In one particular case, my work stream was to size the market and understand the growth prospects for an ancillary service provider for the oil/gas industry. Working closely with a great AC, we managed to tie together numerous sources of information to put together a view of the market that the PE fund had not been able to access through standard reports. Within a week of our final update, the PE fund placed a bid and acquired the company that we performed diligence on, which reinforced that we had been able to assemble a proprietary view on this market.

My personal results story
You can make a difference early at Bain, and you're expected to do so. On your project teams, your fellow teammates count on you to bring fresh and original thinking in order to crack a case. Also, outside the project teams with the vast amount of "+10%" initiatives going on around the office, you can easily either find an area that you've got passion, or start something new.

A final thought
Meet as many people as you can before making your final decision to join a firm. Deep down you'll get a feel for the people that you connect best with, and that's the place that you should go.
