Office preferences

Once you finish finals, make sure you take some time to relax and recharge during the holidays.  I am sure it has been an exciting and busy semester, so you deserve a break.  Eventually though, you must start focusing on completing applications for internships, if you haven’t already.  The deadline for submitting your Bain application is Tuesday, January 4, so you still have a few weeks until it is due.

One of the questions I receive a lot in coffee chats involves selecting an office.  On the application, you will have the ability to list up to three offices and weight them accordingly.  My advice is to be honest and transparent when you share this information.  There is no opportunity to “game” the system, and everything works better when we know exactly what you want.  It also is helpful if you comment on your office preference in your cover letter.  Let us know why you are flexible or why you only are interested in one particular office.  Finally, as you make your decision, consider everything that an office/city can offer you, from proximity to family to low cost of living.
