Internships

Your summer work experience can be a stepping-stone to a long-term career. Bain internships provide you with the opportunity to experience the real world of consulting, while offering valuable insight into a future with Bain.

Undergraduate internships

The Associate Consultant Intern (ACI) program is ideal for top-performing undergraduate students ready for real-life business experiences in an energetic and professional environment.

All ACIs are immediately assigned to cases and, like ACs, focus on collecting data, executing the analyses and presenting the insights. ACIs are exposed to a variety of business issues and quickly learn the fundamentals of Bain's core tools.

Our ACI program is typically for students between their third and fourth year of college/university who are considering a management consulting career after graduation. We welcome applications from students studying any degree. ACIs must have strong academic backgrounds and analytical skills, be highly motivated, and exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills.

Business school internships

The Summer Associate (SA) program is an ideal entry-point for anyone interested in getting into consulting after graduation. SAs are immersed in all aspects of Bain to help them properly evaluate career opportunities after business school. SAs are given ownership of client issues and the responsibility and support to develop lasting client relationships. SAs are encouraged to develop their professional network and learn about Bain's strong office culture. To facilitate professional networking opportunities, SAs from all offices are introduced to Bain with a formal global training program.

SAs join case teams and replicate the responsibilities of a full-time consultant. They work directly with case teams and clients to solve business problems and drive change. Most SAs are amazed at the wealth of industry knowledge, client management and communication skills that they capture in only a few months, and the majority decide to join Bain full-time upon the completion of their MBA.

SAs are typically students between their first and second year of business school who are considering management consulting as a career.

Start building your future

Bain invests in every intern—each and every one hired is welcomed with the expectation of being promoted to partner one day. As a result, there is a strong mentoring and professional development component as well as ongoing coaching by colleagues and case team members.
