Meet interns at Bain

Undergraduate

The Associate Consultant Intern (ACI) program is ideal for top-performing undergraduate students ready for real-life business experiences in an energetic and professional environment. As an ACI, you receive formal training that develops your skill set and immerses you in a client-like setting. All ACIs are immediately assigned to cases and, like associate consultants (ACs), focus on collecting data, executing the analyses and presenting the insights. In this role, you are exposed to a variety of business issues and quickly learn the fundamentals of Bain's core tools.

Our ACI program is typically for undergraduate students between their third and fourth year of college/university or Masters Degree candidates who are considering a management consulting career after graduation. While we welcome applications from students studying any degree, you must have a strong academic background and analytical skills, be highly motivated, and exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills.

ACI positions are available in most of Bain's offices around the world; however, the following offices will not be offering ACI programs this summer: Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Dubai, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, London, Melbourne, Mumbai, New Delhi, Perth, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, and Warsaw. Please visit each office's page for more information.

MBA and other advanced degrees

The Summer Associate (SA) program is an ideal opportunity if you are interested in pursuing a consulting career after graduation. As an SA, you are immersed in all aspects of Bain to help you effectively evaluate career opportunities after business school. In this role, you are expected to take ownership of client issues, develop lasting client relationships and learn about our unique culture. To facilitate professional networking opportunities, SAs also participate in a formal global training program.

SAs join case teams and replicate the responsibilities of a full-time consultant. You work directly with case teams and clients to solve business problems and drive change. Most SAs are amazed at the wealth of industry knowledge, client management and communication skills they acquire in only a few months, and the majority decide to join Bain full-time upon the completion of their studies.

Business school students are asked to apply between their first and second years if pursuing a two year MBA. Candidates in a one year program should check with the local office or on campus career services for timing on submitting an application.

SA positions are available in most of Bain's offices around the world; however, the following offices will not be offering SA programs this summer: Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, Rio de Janeiro, and Warsaw.

The timing of the Mumbai and New Delhi SA programs do not coincide with the North American school calendar. Students interested in the SA position in these offices should visit the local office pages for more information.

All offices holding summer programs welcome applications from MBAs and joint advanced degree candidates pursuing an MBA (e.g., JD/MBA, MD/MBA). Single advanced degree candidates (JD, MD, PhD) are encouraged to check the office page(s) for the office(s) of interest to determine if the office offers summer positions for single advanced degree candidates.

Start building your future

Bain invests in every intern—each and every one hired is welcomed with the expectation of being promoted to partner one day. As a result, there is a strong mentoring and professional development component of the internship programs, in addition to ongoing coaching by colleagues and case team members.
