Consultant

Looking to bring your mix of experience, business intuition and analytical rigor to the field of strategy consulting? Then you should consider applying for a consultant position at Bain.

Our consultant role is designed for MBA students, advanced degree (MD, JD, PhD) candidates, and current Bain senior associate consultants. In recognition of your education level and work background, we offer challenging responsibilities along with unrivalled career prospects. It's all here for you at Bain.

Key learning at Bain

As a Bain consultant, you are immersed in all aspects of our end-to-end process. Develop a plan to solve the client's problems. Execute the analysis. Translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations. Move the client to action. Everything you do is geared toward achieving bottom-line results for our clients.

Along the way, you also learn to refine your interpersonal and people management skills. This helps you to properly identify client needs, build deeper client relationships and gain consensus—all of which make you a better leader.

As a Bain consultant, learning takes many other forms, from formal global training programs to informal mentoring on a day-to-day basis. The overall experience is incredibly enriching from both a personal and a professional standpoint.

What comes next

Successful Bain consultants move on to the case team leader (CTL) role after about two years. Next, depending on your performance, you might go from CTL to manager (one year) and then manager to partner (three to five years). If you want to build a long-term career at Bain, the opportunity is there.

Of course, we understand some people might choose to follow other paths. If you decide to leave Bain, the diverse and deep experience gained as a consultant will serve you well. For example, you might:

  • Take a general management position in any number of industries
  • Accept a senior-level role in the private equity or financial field
  • Apply your skills and business savvy to starting your own business

Throughout the rest of your career, you'll benefit from your relationships with Bain colleagues and members of our diverse alumni network. And it all starts by becoming a Bain consultant.
