Experienced professionals

Bain welcomes experienced professionals to apply for a position on our consulting team.

Application process

Before submitting an application, please take a look at the description of roles and requirements to choose the best position for your background.

We require candidates to submit the following application materials through our online application:

  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Test scores (e.g. GMAT, GRE)
  • University (Bachelors, Masters, etc.) and grades/GPA
  • Office preferences

Once your application is received, we will review it, and will inform you if you are selected to interview.

Experienced professionals' applications are considered on a "rolling" basis, so you may apply at any time. Given the rigorous nature of the interview process, we strongly encourage you to apply at least two months (preferably more) in advance of your desired start date. The overall process and start date will vary by location.

Interview process

Because we consider candidates from diverse backgrounds for a wide variety of roles within Bain, there is no "typical" interview process for experienced professionals.

Local office recruiting teams will be able to give you a better idea of what you should expect in the interview process given your background and the role for which you are being considered.

Regardless of hiring level, experienced professional candidates will have a mix of case and experience interviews, with increasing emphasis on experience interviews with more senior candidates.

Some candidates will have the opportunity to share a disguised presentation of their work during the interview. If a presentation is required, we will give you more specific instructions at the appropriate time.

Candidates with strong expertise, relevant to one of our practice areas, will have a mix of interviewers who are affiliated and not affiliated with the practice.

Candidates who have not done case interviews in the past are strongly encouraged to prepare. Senior candidates with a consulting background usually find that required preparation is minimal.
